The start of the week was a bit of a drift around but on Thursday the Mistral winds arrived and we had between 20 and 35 knots of wind. The result was some great sailing on Friday we surfed down waves at 15 knots, getting completely soaked! It was reassuring to sail in big breeze again and see how much more in control we are now than a couple of months ago in the Solent when we first started training in the Figaro’s.
We made good use of the light conditions at the start of the week to work on boat speed and manoeuvres. I have really realised how small the differences are in speed between the boats and how hard you have to work at fine tuning.
The weekend just isn’t long enough to fully recover from a week’s training in windy conditions and with a windy forecast for the start of this week’s training it’s going to be a hard work.
