Development Squad members arrive in La Grand Motte, France 06 - 12 - 10
All of the five Academy Figaro boats have now arrived at the Centre D’Entrainment (CEM) in La Grande Motte, along with the two Pogo 2’s of Associate Sailor Pip Hare and the Academy Mini sailed last year by Ollie Bond. Snow conditions made the transportation challenging but the German truckers did an outstanding job. The Academy Development Squad sailors, having arrived safely last Wednesday, were on hand to receive the boats and are excited to be getting back to training in the warmer Mediterranean waters.
Development Squad training starts in earnest… 18 - 11 - 10
Since the nine solo offshore sailing hopefuls were selected for the Artemis Offshore Academy Development Squad, these aspiring sailors have been given little time to draw breath since they began their training in earnest at the beginning of November. And, for some, competing in the first ever UK National Figaro Championships in wet and wild conditions…

Artemis Offshore Academy ready for action… Nine solo offshore sailing hopefuls, from across the British Isles, have today been selected as the first Development Squad of the Artemis Offshore Academy. The Academy, sponsored by the investment management company Artemis, was set up earlier this year to nurture British offshore sailing talent. The long-term aspiration of the Academy is to put a British sailor in a position to win the solo Vendée Globe in 2016 or 2020…
Jonny Malbon saves best result till last on final leg of WOW Cap Istanbul Race… 15 - 10 - 10
The final leg of the WOW Cap Istanbul came to a conclusion on Wednesday (13th October) in Istanbul. Jonny Malbon on board the Artemis Figaro was competing against 25 other solo Figarists on this 1,590-mile race from Hyères (France) that began on 19th September.
